Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show

Philadelphia, PA (10 August 2023) The Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show will be held annually at the Convention Center.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Museum. The Show, now in its 47th anniversary, features unique works from artists across the United States.

This year, the PMA Contemporary Craft Show welcomes 44 new artists. There will now be 195 artists representing 13 different categories of hand-crafted art.  The show will feature 195 artists who create wood, clay, fibers, metal, and glass works. The show dates are from November 3 to 5. On Thursday, November 2nd, collectors and the media can see The Show early during the opening cocktail gala. Sarah Grace Cheek's Wooden Vases. Many artists dream of exhibiting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show. The Craft Show offers artists a place to showcase their talent and sell their work to the public. It also increases their visibility and reach within the art world. The highly competitive Show was judged by a panel of five experts in craft and design who chose 195 artists out of 585 applicants. This year, 44 artists are participating for the first. Sarah Grace Cheek and Jarrod Futscher are just three of 44 new artists.

Sarah Grace Cheek, a woodworking artist from Virginia, is an award-winning woodworker. Sarah Cheek, a woodworking artist based in Virginia, took up woodworking as a full-time career after leading a woodshop for over four years. Her work is centered around nourishment and usefulness. Jarrod Futscher has been a Pittsburgh-based glassblower, designing and producing production glass for eight years. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 2011 and has attended many craft schools nationwide. In 2017, he launched his TAKTTIME production line. Jarrod's glassware collection is contemporary and refined, combining traditional blown elements with modern forms and feelings. Nathaniel Fry, an artist from Pennsylvania, is a designer and maker of glassware. He handcrafts each piece in Willistown in, Pennsylvania in his woodshop. His furniture is built with durable, long-lasting joinery. He produces unique, meaningful, and personal pieces of furniture using hardwoods such as ash, walnuts, cherry, oak, and maple.
