Visiting the Museum of the American Revolution

A new exhibit will open in the fall of 2025 titled The Declaration's Journey: 250 Years of America's Founding Document.  Guests will learn about how the document emerged from colonial rebellion and was eventually embraced as one of the greatest political documents in the world. Another exhibit, Liberty: Don Troiani's Paintings of the Revolutionary War, immersed visitors in the dramatic works of this renowned historical artist. The paintings depicted diverse people and events and were created after extensive research.

The museum's gift shop offers unique items from the Revolutionary era. Visitors can purchase books, pens, and art prints. You can also visit the museum's living quarters to learn about life in the 1700s. The museum is open nine to five daily. It's a great place for families to spend a day.

The museum's "A New Nation" exhibit traces the aftermath of the Revolutionary War. A large portion of the exhibit deals with the issue of compensation for veterans. Veterans of the war struggled for years after the war, and in some cases, were forced to sell their wages for pennies. After the war, Congress helped the struggling veterans by passing the Revolutionary War Pension Act in 1818. This legislation provided lifetime pensions for soldiers in the Continental Army.
