PHILADELPHIA,PA — Old City’s staple for contemporary American cuisine is trading its street-level views of Independence Hall for a skyline vantage point. Effective immediately, Red Owl Tavernhas temporarily relocated its operations to the 11th floor of the Kimpton Hotel Monaco,taking over the space typically occupied byStratus Rooftop Lounge.

The move comes as the tavern undergoes minor renovations on the ground floor.To ensure service continues without interruption during January and February,the team launchedRed Owl on the Roof, a limited-time pop-up concept offering lunch and dinner service daily.

An Elevated Menu

While the setting has changed,the culinary standards remain grounded in quality.Executive Chef Charles Vogt has curated an all-day menu that focuses on hearty,winter-ready dishes and hearth-baked specialties.

Menu Highlights Include:

  • Grassfed Meatballs($17): Served with spicy tomato-long hot sugo, whipped ricotta, and prosciutto di Parma.
  • Crispy Gnocchi alla Romana($14): Baked with brown butter, porcini mushrooms, and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
  • Hearth-Roasted Murray’s ½ Chicken($26): Prepared with sweet and hot peppers, garlic, white wine, and rosemary.
  • Lasagna Verde($25): A classic comfort dish featuring béchamel, bolognese, and Parmigiano-Reggiano.
  • Heirloom Beet Salad($16): Paired with Solebury Farms apples, pistachios, whipped goat cheese, and rosé vinaigrette.

The pop-up also features artisanal flatbreads made with organic unbleached flour and naturally fermented dough,such as theWinter Truffle+Mushroom($24) and the Spicy Longhot + Guanciale ($23).

Libations and Lounge Access

The bar program,led by Lead Bartender Christopher Devern,features a selection of seasonal cocktails,non-alcoholic alternatives,and a curated list of spirits,beer,and wine.

The intimate setting is configured to seat30 guests at tables and 10 guests at the bar.Due to this takeover,Stratus Rooftop Lounge is closed for its standard nightlife service until March 2026,though it remains open for previously booked private events.
