The Challenge: Put Your Palate to the Test
This event, designed for those 21 and over, offers a fantastic opportunity to cool off and test your tasting skills. Here's what to expect:
- Blind Tasting Flights: Each guest will be guided through a flight of four mystery oysters and a flight of four mystery wines.
- Tasting Card Contest: You'll receive a tasting card to fill out with your guesses. At the end of the evening, during the "Blind Tasting Reveal," the results will be tallied, and the person with the most correct answers will win prizes!
- Learn from the Experts: Throughout the event, you'll learn about pairing oysters with wine, blind tasting techniques, and more from two of Philly's top experts.
Additional snacks will also be served to complement the wine and oysters.
Meet Your Expert Guides
- The Oysters - Khanh Nguyen (Doctor Oyster): A passionate chef and competitive oyster shucker, Khanh Nguyen proudly represents Philly in shucking competitions across the country. His journey has taught him that the most formidable challenges are often the most rewarding, a mindset he brings to his craft and love of oysters.
- The Wine - Daniel Solway (Santé): Daniel Solway is a Philly-based sommelier with over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, including time at Michelin-starred restaurants and on vineyards in Europe. As the founder of Santé, he specializes in creating unique wine tasting and educational events.
The Setting
The event will take place in the stylish courtyard of the Fishtown Urby Apartments, offering a modern and comfortable outdoor setting perfect for a summer evening party.
