Chinatown Summer Festival: A Vibrant Celebration of Culture and Community

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Riding the wave of its incredibly successful Night Market, Philadelphia's Chinatown is set to host its first-ever Summer Festival on Saturday, July 20th, from 1 PM to 7 PM. Organized by the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC), this inaugural event promises a delightful mix of food, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

With over 35 vendors lining the streets, festival-goers can expect diverse culinary delights from local restaurants and food trucks. From savory dumplings and Korean tacos to refreshing smoothies and tropical treats, there's something to tempt every palate.

The festival will also feature an exciting Bonchon chicken eating contest at 2 PM at the Chinatown Friendship Gate. Participants will compete to devour five chicken drumsticks the fastest to win a trophy, gift cards, and bragging rights. Spectators can cheer on the contestants while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.

Beyond the culinary offerings, the Chinatown Summer Festival will showcase the community's rich cultural heritage. Attendees can enjoy captivating performances by Chinese Lantern Festival artists, a lively dance performance, and music from bands like Fruitful River and Moonroof.

PCDC Commercial Corridor Manager Haoyi Shang emphasizes the festival's goal of bringing the community together, stating, "It's a chance for residents and visitors alike to experience the rich cultural heritage of Chinatown, support local businesses, and enjoy the lively atmosphere that makes our neighborhood unique."

The festival will feature various vendors, including Li Ping Corn Company, Pink's Cold Treats, Latin Bites, Barkley's BBQ, Korea Taqueria, Humpty's Dumplings, and many more. Additionally, attendees can browse an assortment of arts and crafts from local artisans.
