Citizenship Art Bazaar Celebrates Civic Engagement Through Art and Music

Philadelphia, PA – The Citizenship Art Bazaar is a free, open-air market that celebrates civic engagement through art and music. On Saturday, September 30, from 12:00-3:00 pm, the event will take place at Lenfest Plaza at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA).

The event is free and includes admission to PAFA's Rising Sun: Artists in an Uncertain America, the collaborative exhibition on view at the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) that features installations by 20 celebrated artists exploring themes of equality, free speech, and other tenets of democracy.

At the Citizenship Art Bazaar, visitors can make art, enjoy music from Eubie Nieves Band, soak up stories from various civic and social justice organizations such as Art Reach, Indigenous People’s Day Philly, Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society, Museum of Black Joy, Opera Philadelphia, Puertorriqueño and Philadelphia Citizen.

“This is a great opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate our shared values of civic engagement through art and music. We invite everyone to join us for this special event," said organizers.

Free admission is available with advance registration encouraged but not required. For more information about this event visit www.pafa.org/citizenshipbazaar or call (215) 972-7600.
