A Ballet Company Embodying Resilience
Founded by celebrated artists Olexander Stoyanov and Kateryna Kukhar, the Grand Kyiv Ballet showcases the strength and spirit of Ukraine through the artistry of over 35 dancers, including 20 from Ukraine itself. This tour is part of their wider 105-city tour across the United States, offering a rare opportunity to witness the company's captivating performances.
Enchanting Performances
The Nutcracker, a timeless holiday favorite, will transport audiences into Mary's magical dream where her Nutcracker comes to life, battles the Mouse King, and transforms into a Prince. The ballet culminates in a celebration of their victory with a series of enchanting dances.
Snow Queen, a world premiere, tells the captivating story of young Kai, who is cursed and abducted by the Snow Queen. His loyal friend, Gerda, embarks on a perilous journey to rescue him, her love serving as the only hope to thaw his frozen heart.
A Message of Hope and Love
Both ballets share themes of love, friendship, and overcoming challenges - themes that resonate deeply, particularly in light of current events. Oleksandr Stoianov, creator of the Grand Kyiv Ballet, expressed his excitement, stating, "Both The Nutcracker and Snow Queen celebrate the power of love, friendship, and triumph over adversity—themes that deeply resonate with our audiences."
Preserving Ukraine's Cultural Heritage
In addition to providing breathtaking performances, the Grand Kyiv Ballet is dedicated to preserving Ukraine's cultural heritage. A portion of the proceeds from these events will go towards the renovation of the Main Ballet Academy of Ukraine and its children’s dormitory. By attending these performances, audience members can not only enjoy an unforgettable ballet experience but also contribute to a vital cause.
