Walking in, it has a warm and welcoming cafe vibe, but the menu is what truly sets it apart. It’s not every day you find authentic Indonesian smashed and fried chicken (ayam penyet) served alongside a classic breakfast sandwich, but at Griddle and Rice, it just makes perfect sense. The menu is an exciting fusion that caters to both adventurous eaters and those seeking familiar comfort.

I was immediately drawn to the Indonesian specialties. I decided to try the chicken congee, a savory rice porridge that was the perfect, soul-warming start to my day. It was rich, flavorful, and incredibly comforting. I saw plates of the smashed and fried chicken going out to other tables, looking perfectly crispy and smelling amazing—that's definitely on my list for next time.

What’s also brilliant is how they cater to all tastes. My friend, who is a bit less adventurous, went for a classicbreakfast sandwich, which was perfectly executed. They also have sweet options like fluffy pancakesandFrench toast.

The coffee program here isn't an afterthought, either. You can get your classic espresso drinks, but they also offer inventive coffee creations with a distinct Southeast Asian influence, which provides a fantastic alternative to your standard latte.

It's clear that hungry neighbors are already flocking to Griddle and Rice. It’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, offering something truly different.Whether you're in the mood for a comforting bowl of congee, a classic pancake breakfast, or just a really great cup of coffee with a creative twist, this spot delivers. I can't wait to go back and work my way through the entire menu.
