The Story Behind the Cookie

The Levain story began in 1995 with Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, two fitness enthusiasts and friends who dreamed up the perfect post-workout treat. The result? A massive, 6-ounce cookie packed with simple, high-quality ingredients that quickly gained a cult following. Nearly three decades later, Levain is considered the home of the "world's best cookie," with its signature crispy exterior and irresistibly gooey center.

A Perfect Fit for Philly

Weekes and McDonald's have long admired Philadelphia's dynamic food scene and see the city as a natural next step for their brand. They're particularly drawn to the Rittenhouse neighborhood, a vibrant community known for its discerning taste and appreciation for quality food.

What to Expect

Levain Rittenhouse will feature the bakery's six classic cookie flavors: Chocolate Chip Walnut (also available in a GF & Vegan version), Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Two Chip Chocolate Chip, and the newest addition, Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip. Alongside these favorites, you'll find a selection of freshly baked breads and pastries, perfect for a morning treat or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Opening This Fall

The bakery is slated to open this fall, with local pick-up and delivery options available. For those who can't wait, Levain also ships nationwide via its website.
