The series of free, open-to-the-public events aims to connect locals and visitors with the iconic green spaces of Old City in new and meaningful ways.
“We’re so fortunate to have this national park in the middle of our city,” said Tom Caramanico, Executive Director at Independence Historical Trust. “Our summer programs invite everyone, families, history buffs, yogis, and even furry friends, to enjoy the space in new and meaningful ways.”
Here's a look at the can't-miss free events happening this summer:
For the History Buffs: Twilight Tours
Step into the golden hour and the stories of America's founding with the beloved Twilight Tours. These free evening walking tours offer an immersive way to explore the people and pivotal moments that shaped the nation. Guides lead small groups through iconic landmarks and share lesser-known stories that bring new dimensions to the historic landscape. No reservations are required.
- When: Daily at 5:15 p.m., with additional 6:00 p.m. tours on Thursdays to Sundays (through September 1st).
- Where: Meet at the Liberty Bell Center Viewing Window.
For the Film Fans: Movies on the Mall
History comes to life on the big screen with Movies on the Mall. In partnership with the Philadelphia Visitor Center Corporation, this outdoor film series is complemented by family-friendly pre-show activities led by Park Rangers. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for a perfect movie night.
- When: Select dates; pre-show at 5:30 p.m., films at dusk.
- Where: Liberty Mall (between 5th and 6th Streets).

For Wellness Seekers: Yoga at Independence
Find your flow in a truly unique setting with Yoga at Independence. This free outdoor yoga series is open to all ages and experience levels, offering a peaceful morning practice in a beautiful, historic space. Sessions are led by instructors from Monarch Yoga.
- When: Select Saturdays (June 21, July 19, August 16, September 20) at 9:00 a.m.
- Where: Lawn behind the Second Bank of the United States.
For the Furry Friends: Paw-some Park Events
Canine companions are welcome at two special event series held in the lovely Pemberton Garden.
- Pawtriot Yappy Hour: A free monthly happy hour for pups and their people, featuring dog-friendly activities and refreshments. Pets can even take the official B.A.R.K. Ranger oath! (Select Wednesdays: June 11, July 9, August 13 from 5-6 p.m.)
- Doughnuts with Dogs: Start a Sunday morning with coffee, doughnuts, and doggie treats at this relaxed meet-up for dogs and their humans. (Sunday, September 7 from 8-9 a.m.)

All programs are free and open to the public. While walk-ups are welcome for most events, registration is encouraged to receive updates and reminders.
