A Monumental Symbol of Harmony Takes Center Stage

This massive artwork, now gracing Crescent Park at the Navy Yard, is the first public art project in Philadelphia by Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III, known collectively as FriendsWithYou. Their iconic "Little Cloud" character, rendered in a meditative pose, aims to radiate harmony and inspire peaceful contemplation.

Art with a Message

"We created 'Seated Little Cloud' as a beacon of harmony," explains Borkson and Sandoval. "We hope its meditative nature is contagious, bringing serenity to all." This sentiment aligns perfectly with FriendsWithYou's broader mission to spread positivity and foster a sense of connection through their art.

Group X's Ongoing Transformation of the Navy Yard

This installation marks the seventh annual collaboration between Group X and the Navy Yard, managed by PIDC. Each year, Group X pushes the boundaries of public art, bringing innovative and immersive works to this dynamic space.

A representative from Group X stated, "Sam and Arturo's work has always been upbeat and accessible, and our goal is to create an avenue for everyone to experience art."

A Vibrant Community Hub

Once a bustling shipyard, the Navy Yard has been transformed into a thriving business campus with abundant green spaces and recreational amenities. "Seated Little Cloud" adds another layer of vibrancy and cultural richness to this evolving community.

Experience the Serenity

"Seated Little Cloud" will be on display in Crescent Park through the end of September. Open to the public from sunrise to sunset, it's a must-see for art lovers and anyone seeking peaceful contemplation.

Beyond "Seated Little Cloud"

Group X and the Navy Yard have a history of impactful collaborations, including "Sea Monsters HERE," "Tape Philadelphia: Enter the Cocoon," and the permanent monument "Alpha Sacred Beings (The Origin of Creation)." These projects demonstrate a shared commitment to bringing accessible and thought-provoking art to the community.

"Seated Little Cloud" continues this tradition, inviting viewers to embrace its meditative nature and find serenity in its presence.
