PHILADELPHIA - In honor of World Students’ Day, CO-OP Restaurant & Bar, a contemporary, bright, and airy restaurant in The Study Hotel, smack between the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, is spreading the love through a very special giveaway on Saturday, October 15. The first 100 students (with valid photo ID) to visit CO-OP between 7 am and 10 pm will receive a complimentary Funnel Cake.
CO-OP’s recent rebirth champions the inherent philosophies of community, connection, and culinary heritage by exemplifying the neighborly ethos that co-op communities have cultivated throughout history. The restaurant's inspiration draws from regional cooking techniques from many diverse migrant communities that settled along the East Coast since the 19th century. Funnel cake, the beloved sweet treat originally known as drechderkuche in Pennsylvania German, is a perfect example of Pennsylvania’s historical culinary tapestry.
CO-OP is open daily from 7 am to 10pm; CO-OP offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch, with the bar serving 4 pm – 10 pm. The restaurant will expand to a refreshed brunch menu featuring in-house baked bread and pastries with hyper-regional influence in the coming weeks, plus a takeout menu exclusively available through an activated window along Chestnut Street.
