To kick off Black History Month and the countdown to America’s 250th anniversary,Visit Philadelphia has launched a stunning new campaign narrated by the music legend herself. The spot, titled"We Are the Fabric. We Are the Thread," isn’t just a tourism ad—it’s a declaration.

The Message

In the new video,LaBelle walks through the city’s most sacred spaces, delivering a simple but heavy truth:You cannot tell the story of America without Black Americans.

"Philadelphia is home, and the history here holds a special place in my heart,"LaBelle said. The campaign visually connects the dots between the city’s past and present, featuring:

  • Mother Bethel AME Church: The longest Black-owned piece of land in the United States.
  • The Octavius V.Catto Memorial: A tribute to the civil rights pioneer.
  • Musical Royalty: Homages to the "Sound of Philadelphia" legends like Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, Teddy Pendergrass, and Marian Anderson.

The Viral Perk:Free Walking Tours

Here is the part that will fill up fast.To turn this message into action, the city is offeringfree guided walking tours throughout February.

These aren’t your standard history lectures. They are immersive dives into the"Black Metropolis"of the 19th century, led by local historians.
