The annual benefit is strategically held during Pediatric and Blood Cancer Awareness Month, a time that holds deep significance for the foundation as it commemorates founder Nick Colleluori’s Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis at just 19 years old. Emceed by popular XTU radio host Andie Summers, the evening was a heartfelt blend of dining, dancing, and poignant remembrance, honoring Nick Colleluori's enduring legacy and the profound mission he initiated through The HEADstrong Foundation. Generous sponsors for the night included XTU, true, and The Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center.
Honoring Dedication and Excellence in Cancer Care
The evening also served as a platform to recognize outstanding contributions to the fight against cancer. Awards were presented to acknowledge exceptional commitment:
The Penn Medicine Hematology and Oncology team was honored for their exemplary work and compassionate care provided to families undergoing cancer treatment. Dr. Allison Loren graciously accepted the award on behalf of the department.
Sam Adolph, a dedicated board member of HEADstrong, received the prestigious HEADstrong Spirit Award, recognizing his unwavering commitment to advancing the foundation’s mission.
"It’s been 20 years since Nick was diagnosed with cancer and started us on this journey. September is a month that has forever changed our lives, and I’m grateful that we can make it a month dedicated to helping other families and continuing the mission Nick left me with,” shared Cheryl Colleluori, Nick’s mother and the President of The HEADstrong Foundation.
Since Nick’s passing in 2006, Cheryl Colleluori has passionately led the foundation, transforming The HEADstrong Foundation over the past 19 years into a powerful force. Under her leadership, the organization has raised over $38 million and provided critical residential, financial, and emotional services to more than 39,000 families across the country.
