Cellar Dog Arrives in Philadelphia: Games, Jazz, and Good Times Await

Cellar Dog, with its original location in New York City's West Village, brings its signature blend of live music, games, and a relaxed atmosphere to Philadelphia. "The Cellar Dog concept offers something truly unique—a fun and spirited space where people can come together to enjoy great music, connect over games, and unwind with drinks and Philly-inspired bar food," 1 says Arthur Backal, CEO of Backal Hospitality Group.

A Menu Designed for Sharing

Cellar Dog Philly's menu is all about sharing and socializing. Expect delicious and approachable options like pub-style wings, the signature "Cellar Dog" smash burger, a Hot Italian Sandwich, a Short Rib Sloppy Joe, and, of course, a Philly Cheesesteak. For those with a sweet tooth, indulge in Fried Twinkies with caramelized apples or a nostalgic Root Beer Float. Behind the bar, you'll find an impressive selection of local and domestic beers on tap, approachable wines, and a full bar for crafting cocktails and mixed drinks.

Live Jazz and a Haven for Musicians

Music is at the heart of Cellar Dog Philly. The venue will feature live jazz performances curated by Ehud Asherie, a renowned jazz pianist who has worked with acclaimed musicians like Cécile McLorin Salvant and Wycliffe Gordon. Audiences can expect performances from notable jazz musicians five nights a week, with late-night sets on Fridays and Saturdays to keep the energy high.

Cellar Dog is also a haven for musicians, offering top-notch equipment and a collection of rare instruments, including a vintage 1945 Steinway piano and a 1978 A-100 organ.

Games Galore

Beyond the music, Cellar Dog Philly offers a variety of games to keep the fun going. Challenge your friends to a game of pool, ping pong, or shuffleboard, or test your skills with classic arcade games like Tetris, NBA Jam, and bubble hockey. The venue will also host games tournaments throughout the year, adding a competitive edge to the fun.

A Versatile Space for Events

Cellar Dog Philly is also an ideal venue for private events, from birthday parties to corporate gatherings. With spaces for both private and semi-private events, they can accommodate groups of 10 to 350 guests. Their group food menus make planning a breeze.
