A Legacy of Hoop Dreams and Heart Health Advocacy
The Classic, known for attracting top basketball talent like James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Jayson Tatum, has partnered with Red Bull, Foot Locker, and BODYARMOR to amplify its mission. The Daniel E. Rumph II Foundation, established in memory of Danny Rumph, a local basketball star who tragically lost his life to a heart condition in 2005, is dedicated to providing complimentary heart screenings, AEDs, and CPR/AED training to communities across Pennsylvania.
Celebrating Community, Camaraderie, and Philly Hoops
Mike Morak, founder of the Danny Rumph Classic, expressed his excitement about the event's legacy: "As we celebrate the 19th year of the Danny Rumph Classic, we reflect on nearly two decades of community, camaraderie, and Philly Hoops. It's always been about more than just basketball as we honor Danny's memory and help inspire the next generation of Philly hoops on and off the court."
