A Philly Tradition Returns:49th Annual PMA Contemporary Craft Show Opens This Weekend.

PHILADELPHIA- One of the nation's most prestigious craft events returns to Philadelphia this week. The 49th annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Showopens on Friday,November 7,at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, offering a premier destination for art lovers and holiday shoppers.

The show, which runs through Sunday,November 9,will feature 195 of the nation's finest craft artists, all selected through a highly competitive jury process. This is a rare opportunity for the public to see and purchase one-of-a-kind works in glass, ceramics, wood, wearable art, jewelry, and other craft mediums.

Beyond the aisles of stunning artwork, the show will host on-site demonstrations and special fashion presentations. This weekend's schedule includes:

  • Fit To Be Tied: A scarf and shawl tying presentation (Friday, November 7 at 1 p.m.)
  • Find Your Style Fashion Show: A runway show featuring select designers from this year's show (Saturday, November 8 at 1 p.m.)

Established in 1977,the show is the first retail craft show in the nation organized by a volunteer committee —the Women's Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art —to benefit a non-profit institution.

While the artists keep 100% of the sales from their work, all ticket sales from the show directly benefit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, supporting museum initiatives and community programs.
