Honeysuckle Provisions in West Philly Opening Soon

PHILADELPHIA - Thrilled to share we’re working with some of the most impressive and needle-moving folks on Philadelphia’s food scene — Omar Tate and Cybille St. Aude-Tate — on their opening of Honeysuckle Provisions in West Philly this October.
Rooted in serving the West Philly community while celebrating Black foodways and farmers, Honeysuckle Provisions will be an Afrocentric grocery and cafe (think: DiBruno Brothers, but exclusively featuring Black-made, -owned, and -grown foods). Expect signature menu items that nod to Cybille’s Haitian roots and Omar’s roots as a descendant of South Carolina plantation slaves. The pair’s reverence for the food of the Black diaspora is evidenced in a tribute to Dr. George Washington Carver via their COWPEAcoffee, along with other can’t-miss items, including the Black-Eyed Pea Scrapple and BLACKEnglish Muffin Breakfast Sandwich.

Sustainability is paramount to Omar and Cybille - they’ve worked to ensure the café is zero-waste and source all goods locally from Black farmers across the region. They also grow and harvest produce on their land, in partnership with FarmerJawn, in Elkins Park. In advance of their opening, Honeysuckle Provisions will be giving away some of their “Black Farmer Boxes” (their version of a CSA), featuring late-summer produce, to members of the West Philly community. Pick-up is available on Saturday, September 24th, from 11 AM to 3 PM as part of their "soft opening." Each box will feature a recipe card on how to best use the produce housed within, to feed a family of four.
