Kismet Bagels in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA - The long-running Philadelphia bagel shop is bringing its gourmet product to the suburbs. Since 2009, Kismet Bagels has donated a portion of its sales to local charities. These include Black Lives Matter Philadelphia, Project Home, and the West Philly Bunny Hop. While the bagels are now available in Philadelphia and surrounding areas, the company also wholesales to several farmers' markets. Kismet has also added a takeout option to its menu.

The bagel shop's original concept began as an idea in May 2020 when the pandemic took place. The owners, Jacob Cohen, and Alexandra Cohen had lost their jobs early on, but they didn't give up hope. They forged ahead and built their business as a wholesale and pop-up. They're ready to take it one step further, opening their first brick-and-mortar location on April 8th.

In addition to their classic bagels, Kismet Bagels will offer freshly baked loaves of bread and schmears. Pastry chef Erica Paid will also offer other baked goods. The location will be open seven days a week, and it's anticipated that more bagels varieties will be available in the near future. In addition to bagels, Kismet will sell various sandwiches, salads, and other baked goods. The bakery's charitable aspect will remain, and it's likely that the shop will offer a full line of other goods.
