Located strategically just past the TSA checkpoint, the new bakery brings a slice of Philadelphia’s late-night culture to millions of passengers. Whether catching an early morning flight or landing during the "insomniac" hours, travelers can now access the brand’s signature indulgence right at the gate.
A "Full-Circle" Moment for a Philly Original
The opening is a milestone for both the airport and the brand. Insomnia Cookies was founded 22 years ago in a University of Pennsylvania dorm room by Seth Berkowitz. Since its humble beginnings as a local college staple, the company has exploded into a global powerhouse with over 350 locations.
"Insomnia Cookies was born in a UPenn dorm room 22 years ago, so opening our first airport bakery at PHL feels like a full-circle moment," said Seth Berkowitz, CEO and Founder. "We’re thrilled to bring warm, delicious, fresh-baked cookies to travelers from around the world."
Part of the "Founded in Philly" Initiative
The new Terminal C location is the latest addition to the airport’s “Founded in Philly” program. Managed by PHL Food & Shops, the initiative is designed to spotlight local entrepreneurial spirit by placing beloved homegrown brands front and center for regional and international travelers.
Mel Hannah, Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL, noted that the bakery is a perfect fit for the airport’s demographic. "Perfect for late-night cravings or just a sugary send-off, Insomnia personifies the passion and innovation that defines our city," Hannah said.
What’s on the Menu for Travelers?
While the airport location features a streamlined footprint, it doesn't skimp on the favorites. Passengers can expect:
- Classic Warm Cookies: Fan-favorites like Double Chocolate Chunk, Confetti Deluxe, and White Chocolate Macadamia.
- Signature Treats: The bakery’s famous “Cookies IN Ice Cream,” brookies, and the “Cookie’wich” (Insomnia’s take on the classic ice cream sandwich).
- Exclusive Merch: For those looking for a last-minute gift or souvenir, the shop offers Philadelphia-themed merchandise, including sweatshirts, water bottles, and more.
Looking Ahead: Global Expansion
The PHL opening serves as a blueprint for Insomnia’s future. With airport traffic set to surge throughout 2026, the brand is using this first-of-its-kind location to test the waters for further travel-hub expansions. Currently operating over 350 bakeries, Insomnia Cookies has set an ambitious goal to scale to 1,800 locations globally over the next decade.
For Philly travelers, however, the news is simple: Terminal C just became the sweetest stop on the itinerary.
