WILDWOOD, NJ - If you're planning a beach getaway to Wildwood, New Jersey, it's essential to be aware of the regulations regarding smoking and vaping on the beach. As of 2021, Wildwood Crest, one of the three communities comprising the Wildwood area, has wholly banned smoking and vaping on its beaches, public parks, and recreational areas.

Previously, Wildwood Crest had designated smoking areas on the beach, but these have been eliminated to create a healthier and more enjoyable environment for all beachgoers. The ban applies to all forms of smoking, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and electronic cigarettes (vapes).

The other two communities, Wildwood and North Wildwood, currently do not have smoking bans on their beaches, but smoking is prohibited on the boardwalk in all three areas.

Penalties for Violating the Ban

In Wildwood Crest, those caught smoking or vaping on the beach or in public parks and recreational areas can face fines. The first offense carries a $250 fine, the second offense is $500, and each subsequent offense results in a $1,000 fine.

Respecting the Rules

Whether visiting Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, or North Wildwood, you must know and respect the local smoking regulations. If you're in Wildwood Crest, leave your smoking and vaping materials at home or in your accommodation to avoid fines and help maintain a clean and healthy beach environment for everyone.
